MEET ALANA WILKINSON AND HER TOUCHING NEW SINGLE, PARTNER IN CRIME

After warming the hearts of many with her light vocals and emotive lyrics, Alana Wilkinson’s latest release is sure to be embraced with open arms.

Contemporary folk singer-songwriter Alana Wilkinson is making falling in love with her sound so natural. Sprouting from Melbourne, she’s the flower-child we didn’t know we needed. After marking her spot in the folk field with her debut single, Closer and being lucky enough to tour Australia’s major festivals (Nannup Festival, Blue Mountains Festival, Woodford Folk Festival) with folk music royalty, Wilkinson is definitely creating a name for herself.

BIO

Equal parts vulnerable folk singer and vitriolic pop-punk poet Melbourne artist Alana Wilkinson is turning heads with a string of high profile shows showcasing her wit humour and insightful social commentary.

Combining delicate melodies with disarmingly insightful vignettes about the human condition Wilkinson is a smiling assassin. Her songs skewer ex-lovers would-be suitors, ridiculous social norms and the absurd challenges of suburban life in a merciless yet strangely affectionate way leaving audiences feeling that they have stumbled across a particularly poignant and often hilarious diary. As one reviewer remarked "so cute yet so brutal".

This past year has seen Wilkinson to be the support of choice for such artists as The Pierce Brothers, Bob Evans, Eddi Reader and Sarah McLeod as well as playing at festivals such as Nannup, Blue Mountains, Queenscliff and Woodford.

Equally at home in the intimate confines of a house concert or in the expansive surrounds of a festival Wilkinson engages audiences with revealing and hilarious stories and songs that seep into the consciousness.

She's been compared to iconic artists such as Billy Bragg Jonathon Richman and Patti Smith and Australian success stories like Courtney Barnett, Kate Miller Heidke and Emma Louise and even to the idiosyncratic Tim Minchin yet Wilkinson is carving her own path through the undergrowth. 2019 will see Alana release a six track EP produced by Hayden Calnin.

Drawing on the spirit of Woody Guthrie she seeks to connect in the most direct way possible - taking her large repertoire of songs on the road accompanied by just guitar and uke - and the caustic wit and theatrical delivery that serves her so well.
